Katherine Wheeler ‘Periphery’ Exhibition at Paper Boat Press

This June, the creative works of Victorian artist Katherine Wheeler will be put on display at the Paper Boat Press shop and gallery. The exhibition will feature original, enchanting ceramics and paper works by Katherine. Her work is influenced by her surroundings, both landscape and domestic, marine habitats and marine life, collection, death in natural world and human influence. Her art forms are primarily hollowware and sculptural jewellery combining materials such thin paper, porcelain and silver.

4MBS Festival of Classics – Choral Spectacular

Scheduled to be held on the 3rd of June, this event is a spectacular program of choral music. This exhilarating concert will certainly delight any classical music lover, as you enjoy excerpts from the Vivaldi Gloria, Parry’s Jerusalem and Bach’s Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring. Briz Chilli Fest 2018

The only family-friendly chilli festival, Briz Chilli Fest 2018 will be held on the 10th of June, promising a jam-packed day out, full of fun and entertainment. Come along and enjoy interactive kid’s activities, fun competitions, live entertainment, workshops and delicious hot food favourites. There is ample space in the golf course, and one can easily bring in their chair and rug to settle in for a perfect day out. The Australian Premier of 4Seasons is here, starting 14th of June, with some exciting new works, created by Helpmann Award-winning choreographer Kristina Chan, Dominic Wong and Natalie Weir. It will be performed by 20 talented dancers from the CCDC and EDC ensembles. This is a truly world-class event displaying exhilarating physicality and world-class artistry. The production is accompanied by a fantastic soundtrack by minimalist Max Richter. This pioneering initiative offers vital opportunities for choreographers and dancers to sharpen their skills on a cultural level.

Celebrate! Biennial Exhibition 2018

This special exhibition, starting 16th of June, showcases past works with a diverse display of embroidery works. The event called ‘Celebrate’ will be held in the heritage listed Guild Building, as you are invited to view a selection of heirloom and antique embroideries from the heritage collection of the Guild. Bristopia at Museum of Brisbane

This large projection by artist Megan McKean showcases a vibrant dynamic image of various icons of the city skyline and the streets. Make use of the interactive touch screen to select icons of the state’s architecture including Torbreck apartment block, the Storey Bridge and the worker’s cottage. The flora and fauna are on offer too, including the blooming Jacaranda tree and the bush turkey. Operation KiddyHawk – Muddy Obstacle Course

Operation KiddyHawk is returning on the 30th of June, with entertaining activities for kids, who have a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a purposely-built 2km obstacle course through the waters and over a terrain of dirt. The Battlefield challenge is run every 30 minutes, permitting for active assistance and supervision from expert trainers. Do keep in mind that the event will be conducted during the winters, and children may be reluctant in using sprinklers for cleansing the mud. Make sure to take a warm cloth set and a towel for children.
